Promotional Video. You may have noticed member Brian Galford prowling around the courts filming you while you were playing. He has put together a great promotional video for us. You can see it featured on the “About STC” page of the website. (If you have an issue with your appearing in the video, please contact me). Thank you Brian!
SPEC Tennis Fundraiser – Sunday 6/23. SPEC tennis is a fun alternative to regular tennis. Played on a half-sized court with low-pressure tennis balls, SPEC is easy for tennis players to pick up and a blast to play. We hosted a SPEC tennis event on a Sunday in May. It went very well and we are doing it again, on Sunday 6/23, at 2pm. But this time it is for a good cause, the TriTown (Sharon, Canton, Stoughton+) PMC Kids Ride (supporting Dana Farber). Non-member guests will pay a $5 guest fee to the club and make a minimum $5 donation to the Kids Ride. Members are encouraged to attend, free of charge of course, but we request that you also make a $5 donation to the Kids Ride. Equipment and instruction will be provided.
Bottle Filler. If I am Captain Ahab, then the bottle filler is my Moby Dick. If I remember right, that story ends with Ahab’s lifeless body roped to Moby Dick’s back by a harpoon line. That may be how this story ends as well, but for the moment, Ahab is winning. The bottle filler is working.
Guest Policy and Guest Fees. To reiterate our guest policy: You may bring as many guests as you like during the year, but a specific guest may play a maximum of five times at the club over the course of the season. Also, if you have more than one guest, there must be at least one member on each court. You are responsible for the $5 fee per guest per visit. You can pay guest fees online via the website, using the same page as membership renewals. It is fine if you want to pay monthly. It is also OK if you want to pay your fees twice a year. I will send a reminder in the middle of the season and another at the end of the season. Since we pay a transaction fee for the online payments, it actually works out slightly better for us if you “batch” them up, rather than paying each time. Just keep track.
Advice Wanted. Boy is that a dangerous sentence to write in a newsletter. Actually, I could use some help in a couple of areas. We are reviewing our insurance coverage. If you have expertise or experience in commercial insurance I’d love to have a chat with you. Also, if you have expertise in non-profit corporate filings and taxes I would also like to speak with you. Send me an email.

We have had many inquiries this year, particularly from new members and prospective members about lessons and clinics. Accordingly, we are working to put together a program that allows us to be a “learning club” as well as a “players club.” We will be piloting various ideas to make this a reality, and we look forward to your feedback. I will send out more information in a special newsletter on this topic within the next week or two.
It’s going to be hot this week. Stay hydrated!
See you on the courts!
